Apple Season is upon us and who doesn’t like a good apple pie for dessert? This recipe will be great for the holidays or bring this beauty along with you for Sunday dinner and impress the In-Laws. Either way grab some vanilla ice cream and a fork cause we know you will love it!!!

Apple Pie Filling:

6 medium apples

1 cup brown sugar

2 Tablespoons all purpose flour

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

1/8 teaspoon salt

Peel apples. Slice the peeled apples as thinly as possible. Add to the apples one cup of brown sugar, two tablespoons all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg and 1/8 teaspoon salt.  Mix well. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and chill it in the refrigerator while you make your pie dough.

Pie Crust Ingredients:

2 Cups of Flour

1 tsp Salt

12 Tbsp Cold Butter

8 Tbsp Ice Cold Water

Direction:

Mix together flour and salt in medium sized bowl.Cut in butter with pastry blender or fork until mixture is pebble sized crumbs.

Add water and blend until mixture pulls together…  Note that too much water can result in a tough crust.

Wrap in plastic wrap and chill in refrigerator for about 15 minutes

Roll out dough to about 13″circle. Gently roll dough around rolling pin and unroll over pie pan.

Gently press into pan and turn edge under

Fill with Apple pie filling

Roll out second dough disk on floured surface to 13-inch round. Cut into twelve 1-inch-wide strips. Arrange 6 strips across pie. Form lattice by arranging 6 strips diagonally across first strips. Gently press ends into crust edges. Brush lattice with milk. Sprinkle lightly with additional sugar. Bake pie 10 minutes at 400 F. Reduce oven temperature to 375°F. Continue baking until juices bubble thickly and crust is  golden, covering edges with foil if browning too quickly, about 45-50 minutes. Cool on rack 1 hour.

Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!!!

With LOVE,

Natalie, Alanna & Lyndsie
