Wall Hanging Decor

Here at Two Sisters & a Story we are all about creating beautiful things. Something we have learned is that you don’t need to spend a ridiculous amount of money in order to create something you love. Some of our most favorite projects are those that have been inspired by items we have around our home or even things we have found in the backyard.

This “Do It Yourself” wall hanging decor, is one of those backyard inspired projects. The tree branch featured was once in a pile in the backyard, just waiting to be taken to the garbage, but it has now been transformed into a beautiful piece that we have incorporated into our wall decor. We love the simplicity of this project and the details it adds to the wall. The best part about it is YOU can make it look any way you’d like to make it fit the space you want. The possibilities with this are endless! So head outside and find your tree branch and get started on yours today!

Here’s what you’ll need:

Tree branch

Ribbon, lace or material of your choice

Spar Urethane (We found it at Lowes)

Large paintbrush

Triangle hook and nail to attach to your branch to hang it. (If your branch is larger you may need to use additional hooks and nails to secure it to your wall.)

Directions:

Once you have found the tree branch you will be using, grab your large paint brush and paint the branch with the Spar Urethane. (This will create a nice shiny finish look to the branch.) Be sure to let the branch dry completely.

While your branch is drying, you’ll want to cut your material to your desired length.

Once the tree branch has dried completely, attach your triangle hook to the branch so it can safely hang on your wall.

Tie your material your to your branch starting from the center and moving outward until you accomplish the look and thickness you are going for. (We tied each piece of material by folding it in half, then placing it under the branch with the closed end and the top arch of the branch. We then created a loop, pulled the open ends through the loop and tightened the knot to the branch.)

And that’s it! Now go hang your beautiful creation where everyone can see it!

With Love,

Alanna, Natalie & Lyndsie
